December 2024
“Nourish To Flourish” benefitting Dixon Public Schools District 170
On December 17, 2024 a story appeared in our local paper highlighting the fact that many of our local students have a lunch debt. Many thought that our students were being denied meals because of their debt due to an isolated incident, but we learned shortly thereafter that there were more facts surrounding the situation than what was known to an innocent bystander. But if not for the story being in the paper, our community would have not learned that for many different reasons there are local families who have to charge their lunch and at times the debt grows beyond a “catch up” amount.
The citizens of Dixon rose to the occasion and many people & businesses sent money to the district office or directly to the schools, and as of noon Friday December 20, 2024 almost half of the $9,600 district wide lunch debt was covered. WAY TO GO DIXON! Trinity Cares is proud to be a small part of this outpouring of love and support for our local families. Thank you to Principal Crystal Thorpe and Superintendent Margo Empen for taking the time to field our questions.
We look forward to creating a fund through our “Nourish to Flourish” campaign. If you would like to donate, click the “DONATE TO OUR NOURISH TO FLOURISH CAMPAIGN” button directly below.
